– Gill stepped down from his position at Cipla and will also take over as the patron of the Dera Beas society.
– The RSSB owns large pieces of land across several states and has lakhs of followers.
– Dhillon named Gill as his successor, continuing the tradition of declaring a successor during his lifetime.
– Gill holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and has worked in various roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
– The dera draws its legacy from the Radha Soami spiritual tradition started in 1861 by Baba Shiv Dayal Singh.
– Dhillon was embroiled in a fraud case involving the Singh brothers in 2020.
– The dera has thousands of branches in India and abroad and attracts politicians during elections.
– Despite claiming to be apolitical, politicians, including PM Modi and home minister Amit Shah, have visited the dera.
