– Three others, Biplav Singha, Suman Hazra, and Afsar Ali Khan, were also arrested and sent to CBI custody for eight days
– Ghosh resigned as principal after a trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the hospital, sparking protests over doctors’ safety
– The accused are charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, and dishonesty under the Prevention of Corruption Act
– The CBI took over the investigation from the Kolkata Police’s SIT following a Calcutta High Court order
– Afsar Ali Khan, a former bodyguard of Ghosh, was caught on video threatening a former principal and is accused of selling biomedical waste from the hospital
– The Indian Medical Association has suspended Dr. Sandip Ghosh’s membership.
