– He achieved a season-best jump of 2.04m, finishing behind USA’s Roderick Townsend.
– Nishad had previously won a silver medal in the same event at the Tokyo Paralympics.
– Townsend won the gold with a jump of 2.12m, while Georgii Margiev won bronze with a jump of 2m.
– Another Indian high jumper, Ram Pal, finished seventh with a personal best of 1.95m.
– Nishad’s medal brought India’s athletics tally to 3 medals in Paris.
– Nishad suffered a severe accident at the age of six when his right hand got severed, but found solace in sports, particularly athletics.
– He took up para-athletics in 2009 and has been successful in the sport since then.
