– Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been suspended by the Indian Medical Association for his alleged involvement in covering up a brutal rape and murder case and committing corruption.
– Former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali has accused Ghosh of selling unclaimed bodies, trafficking biomedical waste, and taking commissions for admissions and procurements.
– Ghosh served as principal at RG Kar Hospital during the time of the crime and was reinstated at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital by the Mamata Banerjee government before being asked to go on indefinite leave by the court.
– The CBI conducted a search operation at Ghosh’s residence in connection with the corruption cases and he has been examined by the agency for 10 days with a polygraph test conducted on him.
