– Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been suspended from the Indian Medical Association for his alleged involvement in covering up the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor
– Former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali accused Ghosh of selling unclaimed bodies and trafficking biomedical waste
– Ghosh is also accused of corruption, including taking commission for admission and clearing procurements for the institute
– Ghosh was removed from RG Kar Hospital after the crime came to light, but was reinstated at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital by the Mamata Banerjee government
– The CBI conducted a search operation at Ghosh’s residence in connection with corruption cases and he has been examined and given a polygraph test by the agency
