The CBI has accused Arvind Kejriwal of promising to pay ₹90 lakh to each of the 40 candidates of his party in the 2021 Goa Assembly election in exchange for favours granted to a group through the Delhi government’s excise policy. Kejriwal was arrested in June on charges related to this case. The AAP has denied the allegations, claiming they are part of a BJP ploy to tarnish their image. The CBI named Kejriwal and five others in a chargesheet, stating that the bribe money was sent to AAP and spent as per Kejriwal’s wishes. The agency claimed that no further investigation was required and they were ready for trial.
