According to a release from the Erode Corporation on January 5, 2026, the affected pipeline carries water from the sump at V.O.C. Park to overhead tanks across the city. The leakage impacts areas receiving water from overhead tanks at Bharathi Theatre, CNC College, SSP Nagar, EPP Nagar, Vasantham Nagar, Gandhi Nagar Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Sengunthar Nagar, Manickampalayam, Sampath Nagar, Teachers Colony, Shastri Nagar, Anicut, Kumalankuttai, Palayapalayam, Kings Layout, and Ganapathi Nagar. The city’s water supply scheme draws protected drinking water from Uratchikottai to sumps at Suriyampalayam and V.O.C. Park, eventually supplying 67 overhead tanks. The Corporation stated that water supply will be restored after repair work is completed, and residents are urged to use water judiciously.
