Mon Jan 05 15:20:00 UTC 2026: Vijayawada – The A.P. State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department is working to mitigate high temperatures near Irusumanda village in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district following a blowout at an ONGC well on Monday. P. Venkata Ramana, in-charge Director General of Fire Services, stated that fire personnel are assisting ONGC teams and collaborating with Crisis Management Teams, Revenue, Police, and other departments to implement control measures.

E. Swamy, Regional Fire Officer for Zone-2, reported that nitrogen tankers and coolants are being deployed to reduce temperatures in Irusumanda and nearby villages in Malkipuram mandal, preventing cloud formation from the flames. Villagers are urged to avoid using firewood stoves, gas stoves, cigarettes, or electrical appliances near the Mori-5 well. Power supply has been temporarily suspended in the vicinity as a precaution.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th Battalion, led by Commandant V. V. N. Prasanna Kumar, has been alerted and is coordinating with disaster management authorities, rescue teams, and district officials to conduct response operations. The incident occurred on January 5, 2026.
