“Tracker” Showrunner Hopes to Reunite Colter Shaw with Siblings in Season 3, Pending Actors’ Schedules
LOS ANGELES, CA – CBS’s hit drama “Tracker” might see the return of Colter Shaw’s (Justin Hartley) siblings, Russell (Jensen Ackles) and Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), in its upcoming third season. Showrunner Elwood Reid has expressed a keen interest in bringing back both actors, but scheduling conflicts remain a significant hurdle.
“We’re going to try,” Reid told TV Insider. He acknowledged Ackles’ busy schedule with “The Boys” spinoff, “Vought Rising,” and emphasized that securing him for “Tracker” requires careful planning. “If Jensen has a hole in his schedule at the end of the year, I’d like to book him in there or try to get him in there.” Reid was able to bring Jensen Ackles back in the third season by grabbing “him in his only vacation he had all year.”
Similar challenges exist with Roxburgh, who stars in “The Hunting Party” (Season 2 premiering January 8). Reid explained that any storylines involving Russell or Dory must work cohesively within the core structure of “Tracker” and Colter’s case, emphasizing that the show remains centered on Colter Shaw.
Ackles’ return in the Season 3 two-part premiere provided significant insight into the Shaw family history, revealing the circumstances surrounding their father’s death. While the siblings have never all appeared on-screen together, Reid hopes to explore this potential reunion in future episodes, provided the stars align.
“Tracker” returns to CBS with its midseason premiere on Sunday, March 1st, at 8/7c. The show is created by Justin Hartley and Fiona Rene.
