South Greensburg Community Mourns Loss of Carl O. Dobies

South Greensburg, PA – The South Greensburg community is mourning the passing of Carl O. Dobies, 81, who died peacefully at his home on Friday, January 2, 2026. Born in Greensburg on June 2, 1944, to Stanley C. and Lucy M. (Boehme) Dobies, Mr. Dobies was a lifelong resident and active member of the community.

A dedicated public servant, Mr. Dobies spent his career as a corrections officer at the Westmoreland County Prison and previously worked at ITE in South Greensburg. He was a committed member of the South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department and the United Club. His dedication also extended to his passion for riding, reflected in his memberships with the Donegal American Legion Riders and the Pennsylvania Spyders.

Mr. Dobies is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Mariani) Dobies; his brother, Stanley Dobies (Linda); his brother-in-law, Antonio Mariani; his sister-in-law, Josephine Sadler; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Livingston and Carolyn Mariani; brother-in-law Ron Sadler; and nephew Michael Dobies.

There will be no public services or visitation. Arrangements are being handled by LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., of Greensburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to HEAL Animal Rescue, located at 216 Depot Street, Youngwood, PA 15697.
