Rosenior Fuels Chelsea Speculation Amidst Fan Unrest

Liam Rosenior, currently managing Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, has done little to quell rumors linking him with the vacant Chelsea managerial position. Following Strasbourg’s draw with OGC Nice, Rosenior reiterated his ambition to manage in the Premier League, pointedly stopping short of denying the match could be his last with the French club.

Chelsea are currently searching for a new manager after the sudden departure of Enzo Maresca, reportedly due to a breakdown in his relationship with senior club officials. Under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane will take charge on a temporary basis, beginning with the crucial clash against Manchester City.

When questioned about his Premier League ambitions, Rosenior stated: “For sure. Every coach wants to work at the highest possible level – I’ve never been afraid to say that.” While stressing his contentment at Strasbourg, he added, “I don’t know if this is my last match. In life, you never know.”

Rosenior already has ties to Chelsea, as Strasbourg is owned by BlueCo, the same parent company that owns Chelsea. This has lead to increased fan unrest,

Rosenior’s potential appointment would continue the trend of Chelsea opting for a less high-profile manager.

The Chelsea hierarchy, particularly co-owner Behdad Eghbali and sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, are facing increasing scrutiny. Fan group “Not a Project CFC” is organizing a protest during the upcoming match against Brentford on January 17th. The group accuses BlueCo of running Chelsea “less like an elite club and more like a player trading farm”, fueled by rapid player turnover and a focus on long-term potential over immediate competitiveness. They argue that the current leadership has failed to meet the standards expected at a club of Chelsea’s stature.
