Delhi Govt. Highlights Achievements, Faces Opposition in First 10 Months

New Delhi, January 5, 2026: The BJP-led Delhi government, under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, presented its progress report to the Delhi Assembly yesterday, outlining key initiatives and accomplishments during its first 10 months in power.

In his address, Lt. Governor Saxena emphasized the government’s commitment to public welfare, particularly in healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental remediation. Notable achievements include the issuance of 6.72 lakh Ayushman health cards (including Vay Vandana cards for seniors) and the opening of 383 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the city.

Substantial investment has also been directed towards infrastructure development, with ₹28,000 crore allocated for projects such as road construction and flyovers. The Nand Nagri flyover was completed ahead of schedule, and the Barapullah elevated corridor is slated for completion by May.

A key focus of the government has been the cleaning and rejuvenation of the Yamuna river, with efforts underway to develop sewerage treatment plants and implement other interventions.

However, the Lt. Governor acknowledged the challenges encountered, citing “inertia and negativity” from within the administration. The Assembly session was also marked by disruption, with several AAP MLAs, including Sanjeev Jha, Kuldeep Kumar and Jarnail Singh, being marshalled out after attempting to interrupt the address. The session shows that the government has a lot of work ahead.
