Los Angeles, CA – Get ready for international intrigue and romantic resolutions as “The Rookie” returns for its 8th season on Tuesday, January 6th, on ABC. In the premiere episode, titled “Czech Mate,” the LAPD finds themselves in the unlikely position of relying on the very person they distrust the most: the cunning and manipulative Monica, played by Bridget Regan.

After striking a deal with crucial intel, Monica leads a joint task force comprised of the LAPD, FBI, and Interpol to Prague. Their mission: to dismantle a network of high-value terrorists operating both domestically and abroad. Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) are tasked with the unenviable job of keeping a close watch on Monica in Prague, while other members of the LAPD tackle challenges back in Los Angeles.

“Coming into Season 8, you always want to do something bigger and better. You want to make the audience excited to come back,” says showrunner Alexi Hawley.

The premiere’s international scope promises a thrilling start to the season, but back home, personal matters are also coming to a head. After Tim (Eric Winter) expressed his desire to move in with Lucy (Melissa O’Neil), he was met with her slumber rather than an answer. Chenford fans can expect this potentially awkward situation to be addressed head-on.

Hawley assures fans that a meaningful discussion between Tim and Lucy is on the horizon. “I think ultimately I’ve gone on the record saying that Chenford fans should be happy this coming season, and I stand by that, but I do think that at the end of the day, Lucy still needs a conversation.”

“The Rookie” season premiere promises high-stakes action, international flair, and the potential for heartfelt romantic developments.
