Aikman to Advise Dolphins in GM Search

MIAMI, FL – The Miami Dolphins are turning to a Hall of Fame legend for guidance as they seek a new general manager. According to sources, Troy Aikman, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst, will serve as a consultant to the organization during their GM search.

The move comes after the Dolphins and Chris Grier mutually parted ways on Halloween, following a 2-7 start to the season. Grier had been with the team since 2000 and served as GM since 2016, overseeing five winning seasons and three playoff appearances, though the team failed to secure a playoff win under his leadership.

Aikman’s role will be to provide an independent and respected voice, offering counsel based on his three decades of experience as an NFL player and broadcaster. The Dolphins ownership is seeking someone with strong league-wide connections to help guide their selection process.

“Miami ownership wanted an outside respected perspective from someone who had strong relationships across the league. Aikman brings this after more than three decades as an NFL player and broadcaster” stated ESPN’s Adam Schefter when discussing the topic on “The Pat McAfee Show”

Aikman’s consultancy will not interfere with his duties as an analyst for ESPN.

Champ Kelly is currently serving as the Dolphins’ interim GM. The Dolphins are 7-9 heading into their final regular season game against the New England Patriots.
