Mysuru Prepares for City Corporation Upgrade: MLA Orders Data Collection Blitz

MYSURU, January 4, 2026 – As Mysuru braces for a significant expansion of its city limits, Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Deve Gowda has directed local officials to compile a detailed inventory of properties and infrastructure within the areas slated to be integrated into the Greater Mysuru City Corporation (GMCC). The move comes as the state government is expected to issue a notification upgrading the current Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to a Grade 1 civic body.

The expansion will incorporate the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC), Town Panchayats of Rammanahalli, Bogadi, Srirampura, and Kadakola, and several gram panchayats on the city’s outskirts.

During a meeting held Saturday at the MCC Zone 3 office, Gowda instructed officials from the MCC, Town Panchayats, and Hootagalli CMC to prepare comprehensive data on all properties, layouts, schools, hospitals and other crucial information within the next month. This includes information regarding number of houses, Government properties, Anganwadi.

“This comprehensive data collection is crucial to ensure a smooth transition and efficient administration of the upgraded corporation,” Gowda stated. He also emphasized the need to address existing civic issues in the rapidly developing outskirts, such as those related to drinking water, drainage, sanitation, streetlights and roads, and streamline processes like issuing property ownership documents.

Gowda also reviewed the status of private layouts previously managed by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), urging officials to assess completed work and address any outstanding issues related to infrastructure and katha issuance.

The upgrade to a Grade 1 City Corporation is expected to bring significant changes to Mysuru, including the establishment of zonal offices to improve service delivery. Officials anticipate challenges but are confident that this preparatory work will pave the way for a more effective and responsive local government.
