Los Angeles, CA – Officer John Nolan and his wife, Bailey Nune, are heading to Prague for the season 8 premiere of ABC’s “The Rookie,” promising action, romance, and a touch of international flair. Actors Nathan Fillion and Jenna Dewan, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, teased details about their characters’ overseas adventure.
“It felt like a James Bond movie,” Fillion said, describing the shift from police uniforms to suits in the Czech Republic’s capital. “I felt very fancy.” Dewan added that filming in Prague felt like being in an action film.
The trip is intended as a “second honeymoon” for Nolan and Bailey after their first was interrupted by crime. While the pair hopes for a romantic getaway, Dewan hinted that unexpected events and bonding adrenaline are in store. “Lots of unexpected yet bonding adrenaline,” she said.
The actors teased that the new season will feature “teamwork, friction, and opportunity” for their characters.
Filming in Europe also allowed the cast to explore and immerse themselves in the local culture. Dewan recounted her solo excursions, highlighting the historical tours and castle visits, whilst Fillion extended his trip.
Fans can catch the season 8 premiere of “The Rookie” on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, or stream it on Hulu the following day.
