Miles Teller Credits Grandparents and Wife for ‘Eternity’ Role
New York, NY – Miles Teller revealed at the New York City premiere of his new romantic comedy, “Eternity,” that his portrayal of a devoted husband was deeply influenced by the love he observed between his grandparents and the commitment he shares with his wife, Keleigh.
In “Eternity,” Teller plays Larry, a man who fights for his wife, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen), in the afterlife after she is reunited with her first love, Luke (Callum Turner). Teller shared that his grandparents, particularly his late grandfather who passed away in December, had a significant impact on his performance.
“It was really nice to just… observe them,” Teller said of his grandparents. “They’re so in love. Oftentimes when people have been married that long, when one goes the other — usually it’s not far behind because that truly… it’s like a broken heart kind of thing. So I just think it’s really special.” He proudly added, “I come from a long line of great men, and so I’m proud to represent that.”
Teller also credited his wife, Keleigh, for inspiring his portrayal of a loving and dedicated husband. “When we said ‘I do’ to each other, we very much envisioned, you know, being with each other, forever, for eternity,” he said. “She really grounds everything in my life in such a beautiful way. She’s incredibly pure-hearted.”
Teller previously spoke about his attraction to the film’s focus on “ordinary love” at the Toronto International Film Festival. He stated he was inspired by the men he grew up with who were devoted to their wives. He found the film to be “a beautiful way to take a peek behind the curtain of people that you just passed in the grocery store, people that kind of stuck it out.”
“Eternity,” which explores themes of love, loss, and the afterlife, is in theaters now.
