Guwahati, Assam – January 4, 2026: Shishu Sarothi, a leading rehabilitation and training center for individuals with multiple disabilities based in Guwahati, has announced the launch of a groundbreaking hospitality training program specifically designed for the differently-abled. The program, a first for the northeastern region of India, is being offered in collaboration with the Gateway Institute of Hotel Management (GIHM).

The six-month certificate course aims to empower up to 40 individuals with cerebral palsy, locomotor disability, low vision, and blood disorders with skills in front office management, housekeeping, digital literacy, and food & beverage service. The curriculum includes a one-month internship with prominent hospitality organizations in Assam.

“We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to individuals who have historically faced barriers to employment in the hospitality sector,” said Saswati Saikia, program manager of Shishu Sarothi’s skill development program. “This program will provide them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed and contribute to the industry.”

The program is supported by LIC Housing Finance Limited under its Sarthak Project and is certified by Assam Skill University. GIHM’s center head, Pallav Baruah, stated, “Our goal is to equip these candidates with the necessary skills to thrive in the hospitality industry and become valuable assets to employers.”

Candidates aged 18-40 with a minimum of Class 12 education are eligible to apply. The program also offers a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 to assist with accommodation costs.
