Nesbitt Stars in Harlan Coben’s “Run Away”: A Thrilling Hunt for a Missing Daughter

Netflix has released the latest Harlan Coben adaptation, “Run Away,” a gripping thriller starring James Nesbitt as Simon, a desperate father searching for his drug-addicted and missing daughter, Paige.

The eight-episode series, based on Coben’s 2019 novel, plunges viewers into a web of secrets, violence, and unexpected alliances. Simon’s quest to find Paige takes a dangerous turn when he becomes a suspect in the murder of her abusive boyfriend, Aaron. A viral video depicting a confrontation between Simon and Aaron casts suspicion on the desperate father.

As Simon navigates the treacherous underworld of drug dealers and hidden agendas, he enlists the help of Cornelius and even sneaks into the crime scene, meeting Cornelius (Lucian Msamati), who used to keep an eye on Paige and offer her occasional refuge when Aaron hit her, and become embroiled in a basement shootout when he takes them to meet Aaron’s supplier who might know more about their daughter’s fate.

Meanwhile, private investigator Elena Ravenscroft (Ruth Jones) is hired by wealthy Sebastian Thorpe to find his missing adopted son, Henry, a case the police have dismissed. Elena’s investigation leads her to surprising connections between Henry and Paige. The disappearance of Henry is being taken seriously by the police.

Adding to the suspense, a pair of ruthless killers is on the loose, seemingly connected to a larger conspiracy that threatens to engulf everyone involved.

“Run Away” boasts a stellar cast, including Tracy-Ann Oberman as Simon’s formidable lawyer, Jessica, and Minnie Driver as his concerned wife, Ingrid. The series is adapted by frequent Coben collaborator Danny Brocklehurst, along with Tom Farrelly and Amanda Duke.

With its intricate plot twists and compelling characters, “Run Away” is a must-watch for fans of Harlan Coben’s signature brand of suspense. All eight episodes are now available on Netflix.
