Fri Jan 02 13:30:00 UTC 2026: ## Health Headlines: Exam Schedule Released, NEET PG Concerns, Rabies Prevention, and Negligence Ruling
New Delhi, December 30, 2025 – Today’s top health news includes a mix of exam announcements, medical policy changes, and a landmark negligence case.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released its tentative examination schedule for January to June 2026, encompassing major national-level exams like FMGE, GPAT, DNB, DrNB, and others. However, NBEMS cautioned that the schedule is subject to change, with final dates to be announced later.
The absence of the NEET PG 2026 exam from the tentative schedule has sparked anxiety among postgraduate medical aspirants. The NBEMS release, detailing exams from January to June 2026, has left many wondering about the timing of the crucial entrance exam.
In other news, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges and healthcare institutions to maintain a constant stock of anti-rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin. This directive follows a Supreme Court order concerning the prevention of stray dog entry into institutional premises, aiming to address the rising incidents of dog bites nationwide. The NMC’s notice emphasizes strict compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives, ensuring public institutions are secure from stray dogs.
Finally, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) upheld a compensation order of Rs 55 lakh in a medical negligence case originating from Ludhiana. The case, dating back to 2014, involved a dentist who underwent radical facial cancer surgery at Mediways Hospital without a confirmed diagnosis. The NCDRC held the hospital, its oncology surgeon, and pathologists at Dayanand Medical College (DMC) liable for negligence in the procedure.
