Fri Jan 02 01:30:00 UTC 2026: Georgia OC Bobo Praises Stockton’s Growth, Sees Untapped Potential

Athens, GA – Despite finishing seventh in Heisman Trophy voting this season, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton has even more potential, according to offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Bobo spoke with reporters Sunday, emphasizing Stockton’s growth throughout the season and his desire to improve after last year’s playoff experience.

“He’s kinda come out of his shell a little bit, and you’re able to see more true of what Gunner Stockton is and who he is as a quarterback,” Bobo said. He highlighted Stockton’s improved confidence and ability to make plays with his legs, noting that the quarterback remains even-keeled despite the highs and lows of the game.

Bobo also addressed his satisfaction at being a Broyles Award finalist, crediting the collaborative efforts of the offensive staff and the players’ dedication to improvement. He emphasized that the focus remains on finishing the season strong. He also noted that the emphasis on the run game this year was intentional and driven by the unselfishness of all the players, and in making those improvements they went back to square one in their planning and coaching.

Looking ahead, Bobo expressed optimism about the potential contributions of Colbie Young and Ethan Barbour, who are returning from injury.

The Georgia Bulldogs face Ole Miss on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
