UNC’s Caleb Wilson Ready to “Re-Prove” Himself as Tar Heels Enter ACC Play

CHAPEL HILL, NC – After a strong 12-1 start to the season, the No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels are set to begin ACC play this week, starting with a home game against Florida State on Tuesday night followed by a Quad 1 matchup against SMU on Saturday. Freshman standout Caleb Wilson is embracing the challenge, stating his eagerness to “re-prove” himself in the conference.

Wilson, averaging an impressive 19.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, acknowledges the heightened competition and scouting that comes with ACC play. “Nonconference matters, and I’ve done a bunch of good things in nonconference, but ACC is what really matters,” Wilson said. He relayed that senior guard Seth Trimble has emphasized the intense scouting teams will employ.

Despite potential adjustments needed due to increased opponent preparation, Wilson is confident in his ability to adapt mid-game with the help of his coaches. He referenced using tablets at halftime to quickly adjust and improve on his performance.

The ACC is shaping up to be a strong conference this year, offering numerous Quad 1 opportunities for the Tar Heels to bolster their March Madness resume. “The ACC is the best conference, and it’s a really good conference this year,” Wilson stated. “It’s an opportunity to get a bunch of Quad 1 wins and position ourselves well for March Madness.”

The Tar Heels will face Florida State at the Dean Smith Center on Tuesday at 7:00 pm, with the game airing on ESPN2.
