Los Angeles, CA – George Clooney has offered a fresh glimpse into the development of “Ocean’s 14,” confirming that the project is moving forward at Warner Bros. Pictures with a target shooting date of mid-summer 2026.
In a recent interview with Variety, Clooney, now 64, revealed the inspiration behind the long-awaited sequel: the 1979 dramedy “Going in Style.” The film, about three aging men robbing a bank, resonated with Clooney’s vision for a heist film centered on the challenges of age.
“There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something that just appeals to me,” Clooney explained. He emphasized that “Ocean’s 14” wouldn’t be a mere nostalgia trip, but rather an exploration of characters grappling with their physical limitations while still possessing the cunning for a daring heist. “They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations,” he added.
Clooney, who last graced the “Ocean’s” franchise nearly two decades ago, confirmed the return of several key cast members, including Matt Damon as Linus Caldwell, Brad Pitt as Rusty Ryan, Julia Roberts as Tess Ocean, Don Cheadle as Basher Tarr, and Andy Garcia as Terry Benedict.
While the film’s budget has been approved, a director is yet to be confirmed. The news comes after Clooney initially revealed the project’s progress while promoting “Jay Kelly” at a film festival in October. Fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating further updates on “Ocean’s 14” as production draws closer.
