HOLLYWOOD – Actress Millie Bobby Brown, 21, has revealed a significant personal update: she has legally changed her name to Millie Bonnie Bongiovi, taking her husband Jake Bongiovi’s last name. The announcement came during a promotional interview for the new season of “Stranger Things” with co-star Noah Schnapp.
While playing a quickfire question game, Schnapp misidentified Brown’s full name, prompting her to playfully correct him. “Drop the Bobby, drop the Brown,” she quipped, “It’s just Millie Bonnie Bongiovi now.” She even joked about a new nickname, “Millie Bon Bon,” eliciting laughter from Schnapp.
Brown had previously disclosed that “Bobby” was a stage name, added “for s—s and giggles,” in a past interview. The actress and Jake Bongiovi, son of musician Jon Bon Jovi, sparked dating rumors in 2021 and officially tied the knot in May 2024 in an intimate ceremony followed by a larger wedding in Italy.
In addition to the name change, Brown and Bongiovi shared news earlier this year about welcoming a daughter via adoption. Brown spoke with British Vogue regarding growing their family and starting to welcome kids when they are young. “It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey,” Brown said. “She’s taught us so much already…Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.” She also expressed her desire for a large family, noting, “I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different [than] adopting.”
The couple has made a conscious decision to shield their daughter from the media spotlight. They have chosen to keep her name private and refrain from sharing her photos publicly. “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” Brown explained. “It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly.” They plan to support her if she chooses to share her life publicly one day.
