ERODE, INDIA – December 31, 2025 – The Erode District Police released their annual performance report today, detailing substantial progress in crime detection, prevention, and public safety throughout 2025.
The report highlights the successful resolution of a high-profile double murder case in Megaraiyan Thottam, with the accused apprehended swiftly. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, personally commended the officers involved for their prompt action. Furthermore, police successfully rescued a kidnapped one-and-a-half-year-old girl from Konavaikal near Chithode and arrested the perpetrator.
During the year, police detected 427 criminal cases, leading to the arrest of 702 individuals. Law enforcement also recovered 133 vehicles and 538 sovereigns of gold jewellery, along with other stolen property valued at over ₹3.15 crore (approximately $380,000 USD), which was returned to the rightful owners.
A crackdown on illegal activities resulted in the registration of hundreds of cases related to lottery fraud, ganja possession, illicit liquor, sand theft, and other offenses. Over 3,480 individuals were arrested, and contraband including drugs, illegal liquor, vehicles, and cash totaling over ₹19.69 lakh (approximately $24,000 USD) were seized.
Efforts to combat crimes against women and children included the implementation of the “Police Akka” scheme and over 2,700 awareness programs. These initiatives successfully prevented 48 child marriages. Police also registered 225 cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, securing convictions in 20 of them. The “Dedicated Beat” system was also introduced to enhance community safety and deter criminal activity.
Traffic enforcement efforts saw the booking of 206,830 cases under the Motor Vehicles Act, generating over ₹5.13 crore (approximately $620,000 USD) in fines. Recommendations were made to suspend or cancel the driving licenses of over 13,000 traffic offenders.
Law enforcement initiated preventive measures against 480 history-sheeters and placed 358 individuals under surveillance to maintain law and order. 66 individuals were booked under the Goondas Act.
In addition, the police traced and returned 185 lost mobile phones, valued at nearly ₹29.95 lakh (approximately $36,000 USD), to their owners.
The Erode District Police stated their commitment to continuing awareness programs focused on law and order, crime prevention, and road safety in the coming year.
