Wed Dec 31 01:10:00 UTC 2025: Newcastle Snaps Away Win Drought with Victory Over Burnley

Turf Moor, Burnley – Newcastle United secured their first away win since November with a 3-1 victory over struggling Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday. A lightning start saw Joelinton and Yoane Wissa put the Magpies ahead within the first seven minutes, ultimately proving decisive despite a spirited fightback from the Clarets.

Joelinton, scoring his first Premier League goal in over a year, opened the scoring inside 65 seconds after latching onto an Anthony Gordon cross. Wissa quickly doubled the lead, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble for his first league goal for the club.

Burnley, desperate for points in their battle against relegation, responded in the 23rd minute through Josh Laurent, who fired home after a flick-on from Armando Broja. The home side dominated much of the second half, creating a string of chances, but were unable to find an equalizer.

Burnley’s frustrations were compounded as they were forced into an early substitution after just 13 minutes due to an injury to Maxime Esteve.

Bruno Guimarães sealed the win for Newcastle in stoppage time, capitalizing on a defensive mix-up to slot home from long range.

While the victory marked Newcastle’s first away win since November 29th, their performance was far from convincing. Burnley controlled possession and created numerous opportunities, particularly in the second half. However, their inability to convert those chances proved costly.

The win leaves Newcastle with a much-needed three points, while Burnley’s winless streak extends to ten games, leaving them six points adrift of Premier League safety.
