PUDUCHERRY, December 31, 2025 – The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) regional resource hub at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) has been awarded the 2025 silver award for its ongoing work in promoting evidence-based health policies. The award was presented at the “ARISE 2025” HTA conclave in New Delhi by V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Rajeev Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research.
The JIPMER hub, one of eight Regional Resource Hubs established under the Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn) ecosystem, was recognized for its systematic and transparent evaluation of health technologies, including medicines, vaccines, and healthcare delivery models. These evaluations help ensure equitable, efficient, and cost-effective decision-making within the healthcare system.
Since its establishment as a resource center in 2019 and upgraded in 2024, the JIPMER RRH has completed 29 HTA studies and currently has 10 ongoing, including multicenter projects, commissioned by HTAIn, the National Health Mission, and various state governments. Led by Professor Sitanshu Sekhar Kar, the team has also conducted 35 national and international capacity-building activities and published 24 research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
