Tue Dec 30 11:40:00 UTC 2025: Sydney Thunder Aim to End Year on High Note Against Scorchers, Andrews Returns
Sydney, Australia – The Sydney Thunder are looking to turn their Big Bash League (BBL) season around as they prepare to face the Perth Scorchers at ENGIE Stadium tomorrow night. In a bid to shake things up, allrounder Tom Andrews has been brought back into the 14-player squad, replacing Aidan O’Connor.
Despite a less-than-ideal start to the season, Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland remains optimistic about the team’s chances. “It hasn’t been the start to the season any of us has wanted. With two home games in a row in short succession we believe we can get back to winning ways,” Copeland said. He emphasized the team’s potential, stating, “Our best is definitely good enough against anyone, it just hasn’t all clicked at once. I believe we will see that tomorrow night back at home in front of a packed crowd.”
The Thunder squad for the match includes star power in David Warner (C), along with Andrews, Cameron Bancroft, Sam Billings, Chris Green, Matt Gilkes, Ryan Hadley, Shadab Khan, Sam Konstas, Nathan McAndrew, Blake Nikitaras, Daniel Sams, Tanveer Sangha, and Reece Topley.
Tomorrow night’s game will also be the second annual “Wrap Party,” a fan-centric celebration featuring live music, fireworks, and the BBL debut of LED wristbands for the audience. Tickets are reportedly selling fast.
Fans can catch the game live on 7, 7Plus, Fox Cricket, and Kayo, with coverage beginning at 7:15pm (AEDT).
The Sydney Thunder are also set to play Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming weeks.
