Tue Dec 30 13:10:00 UTC 2025: India Women Crush Sri Lanka, Set Record T20I Score in Series-Clinching Win

Thiruvananthapuram, India – December 28: The Indian Women’s Cricket team secured a dominant victory over Sri Lanka in the fourth T20I today, clinching the series with a 30-run win. The highlight of the match was India’s record-breaking performance, as they posted their highest-ever total in Women’s T20Is, amassing a mammoth 221/2.

The innings was powered by a spectacular opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana (80) and Shafali Verma (79), who put on 162 runs – the highest-ever stand for India for any wicket in the format. Mandhana also achieved a personal milestone, becoming the second Indian woman after Mithali Raj to reach 10,000 international runs. Notably, she is the fastest woman cricketer to achieve this feat.

Richa Ghosh (40*) and Harmanpreet Kaur (16) added unbeaten cameos to propel India to the record total.

While Sri Lanka put up a valiant fight, they ultimately fell short, scoring 191 in response.

“Happy that I contributed better today,” said Player of the Match Mandhana, reflecting on the team’s improved atmosphere. “In the last one year, there is a different kind of team building, everyone is celebrating everyone’s success.”

Both teams are using this series as preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales, commencing June 12. India will face Pakistan in their opening match on June 14, while Sri Lanka will take on defending champions New Zealand on June 16.

The fifth and final T20I will be held on December 30 in Thiruvananthapuram. India has already won the first three matches of the series.
