Fisherman Dies After Falling Overboard Near Kodiyakkarai
NAGAPATTINAM, December 30, 2025 (The Hindu) – A fisherman from Idinthakarai, Tirunelveli district, has died after falling into the sea off the Kodiyakkarai coast. Lourdu Prabhakaran, 38, was fishing with seven other men after leaving Pamban fishing harbor in Ramanathapuram district on December 27. According to reports, Prabhakaran slipped and fell into the water on Monday night. Fellow fishermen searched for him, finding his body floating in the sea on Tuesday morning. His body was brought ashore and sent to the Government Hospital in Vedaranyam for a post-mortem examination. The Vedaranyam Coastal Police have registered a case and are investigating. Prabhakaran is survived by his father, Susai Anthony.
