Beloved Actor Mohanlal Mourns the Loss of His Mother, Santhakumari, at 90
KOCHI, KERALA, December 30, 2025 – Renowned Indian actor and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient, Mohanlal, is in mourning following the death of his mother, Santhakumari, at the age of 90. Santhakumari passed away at the actor’s residence in Elamakkara, Kochi, earlier today. She had been suffering from neurological disorders for some time and was under treatment at Amrita Hospital.
Santhakumari was the wife of the late bureaucrat Viswanathan Nair and is remembered by her son, Mohanlal as a constant source of support. The actor has often publicly acknowledged his mother’s influence on his life and career, expressing his deep love and gratitude in speeches and social media posts.
Santhakumari is survived by her son, Mohanlal. Her elder son, Pyarelal, passed away in 2000.
The cremation is scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) at Mohanlal’s home near Mudavanmugal, Thiruvananthapuram.
