Southeast Michigan Faces Power Outages as Winter Storm Hits
Detroit, MI – A winter storm bringing damaging winds, rain, and snow swept across Michigan today, December 28, 2025, causing power outages in Southeast Michigan.
As of 10:30 p.m., DTE Energy reported over 1,000 outages in the region, a significant decrease from the 6,000 initially reported. Utility crews are working to restore power. DTE customers can report outages by calling 800-477-4747 and Consumers Energy customers can call 800-477-5050.
Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and stay at least 20 feet away from any downed power lines, treating them as energized and dangerous. DTE also advises assuming all downed power lines are energized. Residents should also keep children and pets indoors.
