Mon Dec 29 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Lakers Face Defensive Woes, Hachimura Calls for Increased Energy After Losing Streak
Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Lakers are facing early-season challenges as a three-game losing streak has exposed defensive vulnerabilities. Head Coach JJ Redick held a candid and “uncomfortable” practice and team meeting in an attempt to address the issues.
A starting lineup featuring Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Deandre Ayton, initially promising on offense, has struggled to find defensive cohesion.
“I think it is on all of us,” Hachimura stated. “We don’t point at each other. We talk everybody, players, coaches, we have to tighten up. We had a good stretch in the beginning and now we relaxed, we got tired of winning. We just stopped doing what we’re supposed to do.”
Despite the setbacks, Hachimura remains optimistic, emphasizing the importance of a team reset. “Of course, yeah, we’re fine. We just have to kind of reset everything,” he said. “We got to get on a title run again, lots of home games coming, so we have to focus on that. We have to protect our home.”
Hachimura acknowledged the need to improve his own contributions, particularly in areas beyond scoring. “I think I just have to bring my energy,” he said, focusing on offensive rebounding, defensive effort, and physicality.
While the team’s offensive capabilities were never in question, the defensive struggles have become apparent. The Lakers are hoping that increased individual accountability and effort will lead to improved defensive performance and a return to winning form.
