Mon Dec 29 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Auspicious Paush Putrada Ekadashi: Devotees Seek Blessings for Progeny and Prosperity

[City, Date] – Devotees across the nation are preparing to observe Paush Putrada Ekadashi, a highly revered Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Celebrated on the Ekadashi (eleventh day) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) in the month of Paush, this auspicious day is believed to bestow blessings of progeny, happiness for existing children, and prosperity upon those who observe the fast with devotion.

Ancient scriptures like the Padma Purana and Narada Purana highlight the significance of Putrada Ekadashi, emphasizing its power to grant the wishes of childless couples and alleviate the suffering of families. It is believed that observing this fast leads to the continuation and flourishing of one’s lineage.

In South India, this Ekadashi is also observed as Vaikuntha Ekadashi, with devotees believing that fasting on this day opens the doors to Swarga (heaven) and enables them to attain Vaikuntha, the divine abode of Lord Vishnu. Tirupati Temple, dedicated to Lord Venkateswara (an incarnation of Vishnu), witnesses a massive influx of devotees from across the country during this time. The day also marks the beginning of the Vaikuntha Utsavam festival in the region.

This year, Paush Putrada Ekadashi begins on December 30th at 7:50 AM and ends on December 31st at 5:00 AM. While some will observe the fast on December 30th and break it between 1:29 PM and 3:33 PM on December 31st, others may choose to fast on December 31st and break the fast on January 1st, 2026. December 31st is also considered auspicious as it is Dwadashi-yukta Ekadashi, a day particularly pleasing to Lord Vishnu.

This year, the day coincides with Bharani Nakshatra and Siddha Yoga, further enhancing its auspiciousness. Devotees are encouraged to recite the Vishnu Sahasranama (thousand names of Vishnu) after bathing in the morning.

Charitable acts during the Dwadashi (the day after Ekadashi) are highly recommended. Donating warm clothes, grains, sesame seeds, footwear, blankets, and umbrellas is considered particularly beneficial. Lighting lamps near Peepal and Tulsi trees is also encouraged.
