BRS Leader Accuses Telangana Government of Sabotaging Irrigation Project for Political Gain
Hyderabad, India – December 29, 2025 – K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Sircilla MLA, has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led government in Telangana, alleging deliberate obstruction of the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project (PRLIP). During a press interaction at the Assembly media point today, Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of lacking understanding of irrigation projects and prioritizing political gains over the needs of the state.
According to Rama Rao, the government is hindering the project’s progress out of fear that its completion would bolster the legacy of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and to avoid friction with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu regarding Krishna River water sharing. He emphasized that an allocation of 299 TMC of water had previously been agreed upon, accusing the current administration of blocking it.
Rama Rao also addressed allegations surrounding the Medigadda barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram project, stating that engineers had reported suspected sabotage. He criticized the lack of a serious investigation into these claims.
Furthermore, Rama Rao expressed concerns regarding the proposed reorganisation of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), advocating for a scientific approach and public consultation before any division. He dismissed ongoing investigations, including those related to phone tapping, as diversionary tactics employed by the government.
The BRS leader concluded by stating that he would strongly defend KCR from any personal attacks, while refusing to engage in personal attacks himself. The accusations have further intensified the political climate in Telangana, setting the stage for heated debates in the coming weeks.
