49ers Finalize Inactive List Ahead of Sunday Night Showdown with Bears

SANTA CLARA, CA – The San Francisco 49ers have finalized their inactive list for tonight’s highly anticipated Week 17 Sunday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears at Levi’s® Stadium. As teams are limited to 48 active players on gameday, several Niners will be sidelined for the primetime contest.

The status of star tight end George Kittle, who is managing an ankle injury, was a game-day decision, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the last minute. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who had been unable to practice last week, showed improvement this week, offering a glimmer of hope for the receiving corps.

“He was able to go some, as opposed to last week he wasn’t able to go at all,” Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said of Pearsall. “I think it got better for him each day and hopefully it’ll continue here over the next 48 hours.”

Earlier in the week, the 49ers had already ruled out quarterback Kurtis Rourke (knee) and cornerback Renardo Green (neck). Shanahan indicated that Green’s neck injury is a reaggravation of an earlier issue, but noted the cornerback is making progress and could potentially return next week.

In an effort to bolster depth, the team has elevated linebacker Eric Kendricks and tight end Brayden Willis from the practice squad ahead of kickoff.

With the 49ers looking to maintain their momentum heading into the playoffs, the coaching staff will need to adapt and overcome the absence of key players against a hungry Bears team.
