BJP Alleges Deep Divisions Within Congress, Claims Party Split into Rahul and Priyanka Camps

New Delhi – December 29, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that the Indian National Congress is deeply fractured, alleging a clear split within the opposition party. According to BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, the Congress is now divided into two distinct factions: one aligned with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the other with her brother, Rahul Gandhi.

Poonawalla asserted that a growing movement within the Congress seeks to replace Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, with an alternative leader, potentially Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He cited recent events and comments from senior Congress leaders as evidence of this division.

The BJP spokesperson pointed to veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s recent praise of the organizational strength of the BJP and the RSS, despite Singh’s later backtracking. Poonawalla highlighted conflicting reactions to Singh’s comments within the Congress, with leaders like Manickam Tagore and Revanth Reddy reportedly critical of Singh while Salman Khurshid defended him.

“The Congress has split into two today,” Poonawalla stated, alleging that Revanth Reddy and others are in the Rahul camp while Digvijaya Singh, Salman Khurshid and others are in the Priyanka camp. He also claims that the BJP has heard that a huge lobby in the Congress, “are saying ‘Rahul hatao, Priyanka lao; kisi ko bhi lao aur Congress bachao”.

The BJP has been critical of Rahul Gandhi’s recent activities, accusing him of speaking against India and defaming the country while abroad.

As of this report, the Congress party has not issued an official response to the BJP’s allegations. The alleged divisions within the Congress come at a crucial time as the party seeks to regain ground against the ruling BJP.
