Los Angeles, CA – A new CNN documentary, “I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not,” sheds light on the controversial events that led to Chevy Chase’s departure from the hit TV show “Community” in 2012.

Director Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed several episodes of “Community,” recounts witnessing the incident in detail. According to Chandrasekhar, the incident began after Chase used the N-word on set during a scene involving a “blackface” hand puppet. The comment led to a confrontation with actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who reportedly walked off set.

Chandrasekhar says that when asked to apologize to Brown, Chase referenced his relationship with Richard Pryor, claiming they used similar language with each other. The incident was later leaked to The Hollywood Reporter, leading to what Chandrasekhar described as a “full meltdown” from Chase.

“He came storming onto the set and he goes, ‘Who f—– me over?’… ‘My career is ruined! I’m ruined!'” Chandrasekhar recounted in the documentary. “He never ended up coming back after that.”
