Evansville Braces for Arctic Blast: Wind Chills Expected in Single Digits
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Residents of Evansville should prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures as an arctic blast moves through the region, bringing potentially dangerous wind chills.
Starting overnight, winds will shift from southwest to northwest, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph. This will usher in much colder air, causing temperatures to plummet into the low to mid-20s by Monday morning. The wind chill factor could make it feel like temperatures are in the single digits.
Monday’s high temperatures are only expected to reach the upper 20s to around 30 degrees, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. The frigid conditions will persist into Monday night, with overnight lows dropping into the teens and wind chills potentially dipping back into the single digits.
Tuesday will remain cold, with highs only reaching the lower 30s.
High pressure is expected to keep the weather relatively calm for much of next week, but the extreme cold is the main concern. Temperatures are expected to moderate towards the middle and end of next week, climbing into the upper 30s to lower 40s, closer to the seasonal average.
Residents are advised to take precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their pets from the extreme cold, including dressing in layers, limiting outdoor exposure, and ensuring that heating systems are functioning properly.
