Chennai, December 28, 2025 (IST) – Sir Theagaraya College, a venerable institution located in Old Washermenpet, Chennai, marked its 75th anniversary of academic service (1950-2025) with a grand celebration held on Saturday at the College Auditorium.
The event saw the participation of distinguished legal figures, including Justice V. Ramasubramanian, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and current Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, and Justice K.P. Sivasubramaniam, former Judge of the Madras High Court.
The esteemed guests jointly unveiled a commemorative pillar, a symbolic representation of the college’s seventy-five years of dedication to education. Following the unveiling, Justices Ramasubramanian and Sivasubramaniam inaugurated a Photo and Archival Exhibition titled “Through the Lens of Legacy: Sir Pitty Theagaraya Chettiar and the Making of an Institution,” showcasing the rich history and heritage of the college and its founding figure.
The celebrations highlighted the college’s enduring commitment to providing quality education and its significant contribution to the academic landscape over the past seven and a half decades.
