Sun Dec 28 03:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Nate Bargatze Stumbles into Stay-at-Home Dad Life in Sony’s “The Breadwinner”
Los Angeles, CA – Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for “The Breadwinner,” a new family comedy starring Nate Bargatze and Mandy Moore, slated for release on March 13, 2026. The film marks Bargatze’s big screen debut, where he plays Nate Wilcox, a man whose life is upended when his wife, Katie (Moore), lands a huge business deal after a successful “Shark Tank” appearance.
The catch? Katie must embark on an extended business trip, leaving Nate to navigate the uncharted waters of stay-at-home fatherhood. The trailer showcases the comedian’s relatable struggles as he clumsily attempts to manage the daily chaos of raising three young daughters (played by Birdie Borria, Charlotte Tucker, and Stella Fitzgerald), revealing a world of laundry mishaps, culinary disasters, and school drop-off debacles. “She makes it look so easy, but it’s so hard!” Nate exclaims in the trailer.
While Bargatze is new to film, the comedian has amassed a large following during his impressive 20-year comedy career. Mandy Moore, known for her roles in “A Walk To Remember,” “Tangled,” and, more recently, “Dr. Death” and “This Is Us,” brings her experience to the role of the ambitious mom.
The star-studded cast also includes Colin Jost, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy, Kate Berlant, Kumail Nanjiani, and Will Forte.
Bargatze co-wrote the script alongside Dan Lagana (“Christmas with the Campbells”). The film is produced by Jeremy Latcham, Bargatze, and Lagana, with JoAnn Perritano, Michael Musgrave, and Tyler Zacharia serving as executive producers.
