JetBlue and Japan Airlines End Partnership, New Flights to Puerto Rico Announced
NEW YORK, NY – JetBlue Airways announced the termination of its partnership with Japan Airlines (JAL), effective March 31, 2026, just months after the collaboration’s launch in April 2025. TrueBlue loyalty program members will no longer be able to redeem points for JAL flights after that date. All existing JAL bookings made with TrueBlue points for flights departing after April 1, 2026, will be honored.
“TrueBlue members can continue to redeem points on Japan Airlines flights booked on or before that date,” stated a company notice. JetBlue has been contacted for additional information regarding the decision.
This announcement comes alongside news of JetBlue expanding its service to Puerto Rico. Starting in March 2026, the airline will offer new nonstop flights from five U.S. cities to San Juan, with one-way fares starting at $99. The new routes include:
- Philadelphia, PA: Daily flights
- Jacksonville, FL: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
- Norfolk, VA: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays
- Richmond, VA: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
- Buffalo, NY: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
This expansion will provide greater travel options for Americans heading to Puerto Rico, joining the existing nonstop service offered by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest, Frontier, and Spirit.
In other network adjustments, JetBlue ceased service to Miami in September 2025, ending its route between Boston and Miami. The airline, however, will continue to serve Florida with flights to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach from multiple cities including Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles.
JetBlue said in a statement, “We continually evaluate how our network is performing and make changes as needed. To free aircraft for new routes, we’ve recently made the decision to end a small number of unprofitable flights including between Boston and Miami. We will continue to serve Boston from our nearby focus city of Fort Lauderdale as well as West Palm Beach. Customers booked on affected flights will have the option to fly via Fort Lauderdale or receive a full refund to their original form of payment.”
