NEW YORK – A major winter storm swept through the Tri-State area from Friday evening into Saturday morning, leaving a blanket of snow and causing hazardous travel conditions. The storm, which dropped 1-2 inches of snow per hour at its peak in some areas, tapered off Saturday morning.

The Hudson Valley, Connecticut, northern New Jersey, and portions of Long Island were hardest hit, experiencing the most significant snow accumulations. Areas further south and west, including New York City, saw a mix of sleet, which reduced overall snowfall totals.

Central Park officially recorded 4.3 inches of snow by 7:00 AM Saturday, marking the first time the park has surpassed 4 inches of snowfall since the winter storm of January 2022.

According to the National Weather Service, the highest snowfall totals were reported in Connecticut including 9.1 inches in New Fairfield, 9.0 inches in Meriden, and 7.7 inches in Westbrook.
