BJP Accuses Congress Leader of Open Dissent Against Rahul Gandhi’s Leadership
New Delhi, December 28, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has seized on recent comments made by Congress leader Digvijay Singh, alleging that his praise for the organizational strength of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) constitutes an open act of dissent against the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Saturday, December 27, BJP National Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that Mr. Gandhi’s leadership was “bringing his party upside down.” He contrasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rise from grassroots to the top with Mr. Gandhi’s lineage, suggesting this difference explained their respective parties’ trajectories.
Mr. Singh’s initial remarks, shared on X, highlighted Mr. Modi’s journey from a grassroots worker to Prime Minister. While Mr. Singh later clarified that his praise was solely for the organizations’ strength and not an endorsement of the BJP or RSS, the BJP has used the opportunity to attack the Congress party. Another BJP spokesperson, Pradeep Bhandari, also weighed in on X, claiming that Mr. Singh’s comments made it clear that the Congress organization has collapsed under Rahul Gandhi.
Mr. Trivedi also referenced former U.S. President Barack Obama’s past criticisms of Mr. Gandhi, questioning why U.S. universities continue to invite him to speak despite these reservations. He argued that the American establishment should reconsider inviting Mr. Gandhi to prestigious institutions given Obama’s previous statements.
The BJP’s attack intensifies the ongoing political battle between the two major parties as the country heads further into the new year.
