Sat Dec 27 23:50:00 UTC 2025: Digvijay Singh Praises BJP-RSS, Calls for Congress Reform Ahead of CWC Meeting
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh sparked controversy on Saturday with a public post praising the organizational strength of the BJP and RSS, just hours before a crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting. In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Singh addressed the furor and reiterated his call for internal reforms and decentralization of power within the Congress party.
Singh defended his praise of the BJP and RSS, stating that he was simply acknowledging the remarkable journey of Narendra Modi, from a grassroots worker to Prime Minister. “It’s a rare picture I found on Quora, highlighting Modi’s dedication to the organization,” he explained. “It’s a testament to their organizational strength.” He explicitly denied that the post was intended as a message to Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing his ability to communicate directly.
The timing of the post, immediately preceding the CWC meeting, raised eyebrows. However, Singh dismissed any connection, asserting the two were unrelated.
Singh also elaborated on his vision for Congress’s revitalization. He emphasized the party’s historical legacy as a movement-based organization rooted in principles of love, compassion, truth, and non-violence. He reiterated his long-standing belief in decentralization, advocating for devolving power to the grassroots level – blocks, mandals, polling booths, and villages.
“Rahul Gandhi has already delegated authority to the district level. We need to take it further down – to the grassroots,” Singh stated, expressing confidence in the ongoing organizational restructuring efforts led by Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal.
When asked if Congress should learn from the BJP-RSS organization, Singh pivoted, emphasizing the unique strength of Congress as a movement born from India’s freedom struggle.
