Rabri Devi Appears to Begin Vacating Official Bungalow After Notice
Patna, December 27, 2025 – Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi appears to be initiating the process of vacating her official bungalow at 10, Circular Road in Patna following a notice issued by the State Building Construction Department on November 25, 2025. Videos surfaced late on December 25th showing pick-up vans removing household belongings and flower pots from the property, sparking speculation that a quiet departure is underway.
Devi, who has resided at the bungalow since 2005, was allotted a new residence at 39, Hardinge Road in her capacity as Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Council. However, her party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), had previously asserted that she would not vacate her current residence.
RJD sources now suggest that Devi may relocate after the traditionally inauspicious month of Kharmas in January. Her husband, former Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, is reportedly constructing a palatial residence in Patna’s Mahuabagh locality and is expected to move there.
The notice to vacate was met with criticism from the RJD, with state president Mangani Lal Mandal calling it “an act of political malice” against Lalu Prasad. Devi’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, also accused the Nitish Kumar government of targeting her family.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the State Building Construction Department Minister, stated that the new allotment for Devi is spacious and suitable for high-ranking officials.
The government has also issued a notice to Tej Pratap Yadav, Devi’s estranged elder son, to vacate his government-allotted residence at 26-M Strand Road. This residence has been assigned to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) Welfare Minister Lakhendra Kumar Raushan.
A State BJP leader, speaking anonymously, stated that the government is awaiting the vacation of the properties, emphasizing that the notices were issued according to established rules and regulations.
