‘Pluribus’ Season 2: Vince Gilligan Says “Patience” is Key, Production Timeline Uncertain
LOS ANGELES, CA – Fans eagerly awaiting the second season of Vince Gilligan’s new Apple TV+ sci-fi series, “Pluribus,” may have a bit of a wait on their hands. The “Breaking Bad” creator has revealed that the writing team is taking their time to ensure the story unfolds organically.
“We’re working on it,” Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly. “It takes us a while. I would love to go faster if I could.” Executive Producer Gordon Smith jokingly added, “I think we’re on the arrow somewhere,” referring to the timeline arrow that points towards infinity.
“Pluribus,” starring Rhea Seehorn (“Better Call Saul”) as a romance-fantasy author battling an alien “virus,” recently became Apple TV+’s most-watched show. Gilligan expressed his gratitude, saying he was “amazed” by the positive response. Fellow Executive Producer Alison Tatlock echoed the sentiment, stating, “It’s just so gratifying that so many people are along for the ride.”
Despite the show’s popularity, Gilligan emphasized that they aren’t letting external pressures influence their creative process. He says they don’t have a set date to begin filming season 2.
“As much as I am so grateful for the fans digging this show, we’ve always found our best way to proceed is to be in our bunker creating this thing and not pay too much attention to reactions of any sort, positive or negative,” Gilligan explained. “We’re kind of the first fans of this show, the first viewers of the show, and we kinda try to make ourselves happy.”
He reiterated the importance of maintaining their creative integrity, saying, “The way to tell a story is to keep doing it the way you did it back before you had an audience. That has always worked best for us.”
All episodes of “Pluribus” Season 1 are currently streaming on Apple TV+. Stay tuned for updates on the development of Season 2.
