Delhi Suffers Under “Very Poor” Air Quality Amid Dense Fog
New Delhi – December 27, 2025 – The nation’s capital is blanketed in a thick fog this Saturday morning, exacerbating already poor air quality conditions. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 355 at 9:00 AM, placing it in the “very poor” category.
The CPCB’s scale defines an AQI between 301 and 400 as “very poor,” indicating significant health concerns. An AQI of 355 suggests widespread respiratory distress may be experienced by residents.
Efforts to combat the pollution continue, with anti-smog guns deployed to spray water and suppress dust particles. However, the persistent fog appears to be compounding the issue.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 7.8°C, slightly above the normal for this time of year. The IMD forecasts continued foggy conditions throughout the day, with a maximum temperature expected to reach around 22°C. High humidity, recorded at 100% at 8:30 AM, further contributes to the challenging atmospheric conditions.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to minimize exposure to the poor air quality and foggy conditions.
