Sixers, Stars Clash at SCG in Boxing Day BBL Blockbuster
SYDNEY, December 26th – The Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars are set to ignite the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) today in the first match of a highly anticipated Boxing Day Big Bash League (BBL) double-header. First ball is scheduled for 6:05 PM AEDT.
The Sixers welcome back key players Sean Abbott, recovered from a hamstring injury, and all-rounder Jake Scott, a local replacement for Todd Murphy, who has been called up to the Australian Test squad. Ben Manenti also returns to the squad.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Melbourne Stars, led by Marcus Stoinis, have made one change, bringing in Jon Merlo after Tom Rogers was sidelined with a knee injury. Fast bowler Tom Whitney returns to the 14 after initially being omitted. The Stars are looking to continue their winning streak and solidify their position at the top of the BBL standings.
Eyes will be on Sixers’ young spinner Jafer Chohan as he faces a formidable challenge against Stars’ power hitters Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. Maxwell, who boasts a history of explosive innings against the Sixers at the SCG, will be a key threat.
Cricket fans can catch all the action live on Channel Seven, 7plus, Fox Cricket, and Kayo Sports. Radio coverage will be available on ABC and SEN Radio.
The Sixers and Stars rivalry is historically fierce, adding extra spice to this Boxing Day showdown.
