UDF Victory in Kochi Corporation Election Followed KPCC Guidelines, Says Opposition Leader
KOCHI, December 26, 2025 – Following the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) victory in the Kochi Corporation election, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan addressed the media today, stating his involvement concluded with the win and that the mayoral selection adhered strictly to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) guidelines.
Mr. Satheesan emphasized that the mayoral selection was made in accordance with the KPCC circular and that any speculation by media outlets before the guidelines were public was unfounded. He clarified that pre-announced mayoral candidates were only present in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, with other selections based on the KPCC circular. He highlighted the process in Thrissur, where the Mayor was chosen after seeking councillor opinions, ensuring no imposition from higher levels.
Furthermore, Mr. Satheesan reiterated the UDF’s clear directive against any alliance or support from the BJP, CPI(M), or SDPI. He warned that any councillor winning with the support of these parties would be required to resign immediately, underscoring the UDF’s firm political stance.
